What resolution do you actually get?
Instagram re-encodes everything you upload. These are the sizes we see on real downloads:
| Type | Typical download size | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Reels | 720×1280 | Instagram's standard Reel size; some newer Reels are larger |
| Square video posts | 640×640 to 1080×1080 | Older posts are often smaller |
| Landscape posts / IGTV | up to 1080 wide | Depends on what the creator uploaded |
We always pick the largest version Instagram has, and copy it as-is. Nothing is re-compressed, so you don't lose quality on our side.
Why "4K Instagram downloader" is a myth
Instagram doesn't keep 4K copies. A site that offers 4K is taking the 720p file and stretching it — the file gets four times bigger, but the picture has no more detail. If you need 4K, ask the creator for their original upload.
Download with sound
Instagram often stores the picture and the sound as two separate streams. Some downloaders grab only the picture, which is why people search for "Instagram video download with sound". We fetch both and join them into one MP4 without re-encoding, so the audio stays in sync and at full quality.
